Teens arrested for creating fake social network profile of teacher
[EDITORS NOTE – This is a preview of things to come. Even though this takes place in India, it is an example of what we are to expect in the United States. With the creation of the new Cyber Czar, the focus of the federal government on ‘cybercrime’ and ‘cyberbullying,’ we will be seeing more arrests for trivial issues using the overreaching authority of new legislation.]

(Mumbai, India) – – Annoyed with their strict school teacher, two youngsters allegedly created an obscene profile of her on a social networking site.
The two boys — aged 14 and 15 and residents of Borivili and Kandivili respectively — were arrested by the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC) of the Mumbai Crime Branch on Tuesday.
They are students of a Borivili-based school. They were later released on bail by the juvenile court.
According to Deven Bharti, additional commissioner of police (crime), the victim learnt through one of her ex-students that a profile has been created on Orkut which contained her photographs. It was titled the ‘Black Prostitute’ and had obscene content about the 45-year-old teacher, he said.
The victim approached the CCIC and registered a complaint. A police team traced the internet protocol address to the Borivili boy’s personal computer. “He told us that his friend from Kandivili had encouraged him to create the profile. We have seized the hard disk and will be sending it to Kalina Forensic Laboratory for examination,” said a police official.
