More City Manager Blues
(Stephanie Kienzle) I have received a public records copy of Mr. Kelly’s response to the city’s Conditional Employment Terms and Benefits, dated March 8, 2011. As his email address is now a matter of public record, I am copying him with this letter/column.
I will start with the money, since this is the NUMBER ONE issue. Apparently, the city offered Mr. Kelly a starting salary of $160,000.00 per year, PLUS car allowance of $6,000.00 per year, PLUS health insurance of $9,072.00 per year, PLUS cell phone allowance of $600.00, all of which adds up to $175,672.00 per year.
Also included in this offer are items that I am not able to calculate since I do not know the value of these gimmes. These are: A 20% city contribution toward family health insurance coverage, life insurance coverage at twice his annual salary to a maximum of $200,000, short term disability insurance for 30 days, personal leave time of 20 working days per year, 10 sick days, 11 federal holidays, 2 floating days and a birthday, plus, of course, the city’s usual and customary generous pension plan. All on our dime.
