Kids Fun Is ‘Dangerous And Should Be Discouraged’ Says Doctors
(THE TELEGRAPH) Young children in particular are at high risk of breaking or fracturing a bone or receiving a joint dislocation, warns the American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP).
Most injuries result from children falling off the trampolines and from collisions when more than one child is bouncing, they say.
The academy also doubts that safety equipment such as protective mats to cover the springs, and guards to stop children falling off, work effectively.
Trampolines are now a common feature in many family gardens.
Sales tripled in 2005, according to John Lewis, and have risen slowly ever since.
