Gun-Town USA: 25 Years Murder Free
(BEFORE IT’S NEWS) According to The Judy Morris Report, the city of Kennesaw, Georgia in 1982 passed a law requiring that every household have at least one member that is armed and firearms proficient. According to Judy:
Before 1982, Kennesaw had experienced soaring crime rates so it passed a law with the goal of crime reduction. The crime rate plummeted. While the media castigated Kennesaw and dubbed it ‘Guntown USA’ and predicted that Kennesaw would become a Wild West styled shootout town full of gun violence, the truth is much different. The crime rate plummeted and at one point in 2007, Kennesaw was deemed a murder free town for 25 years.
In a column titled “Gun Town USA,” Art Buchwald suggested Kennesaw would soon become a place where routine disagreements between neighbors would be settled in shootouts. Reuters, the European news service, today revisited the Kennesaw controversy following the Virginia Tech Massacre. Police Lt. Craig Graydon said: “When the Kennesaw law was passed in 1982 there was a substantial drop in crime … and we have maintained a really low crime rate since then. We are sure it is one of the lowest (crime) towns in the metro area.” Kennesaw is just north of Atlanta.
We watch as a 2nd Amendment ‘war’ gets ready to break out across the land about whether or not to ban firearms as being the cause of this latest tragedy; if they are the cause, are they not also the answer to this problem? If young Adam Lanza or a group of CIA/MOSSAD hitmen dressed in nuns outfits knew that behind the school front door and in each and every class room sat a well trained teacher or administrator, proficient in firearms usage and safety, would they have even taken a chance to get beyond the front door?
