POLICE BRUTALITY: Violent Arrests & Police Attacks on Photographers at Occupy Anniversary

(RT)   Thousands of protesters took to the streets of New York on September 17 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement, but the events weren’t exactly all celebratory. Here a photojournalist attempting to document the arrest of two protesters in New York is shoved to the ground by members of the NYPD. By mid-afternoon, it was reported that as many as 140 arrests had already been confirmed.

  • All that happened to the photographer was he got pushed…Like it or not, the police have orders to keep the peace and half these people are there just to cause trouble and make the police look bad…The officer told the photographer to get back and the guy didn’t listen to the order…But no, he had to provoke the officer and got pushed for his trouble…

Before you condem the police here, remember, they took no further action against the photographer…They could have pounced on him, beathim up and had him arrested him… But they didn’t…

  • No, what happened was the cop assaulted the photographer. If you did the same thing but didn’t have on a costume and a piece of tin you would have been arrested. Don’t try to justify the actions of the NYPD just because you don’t like Occupy Wall St. What if that were the TEA Party? The people have a Constitutional right to address their grievances with the government without being assaulted. Stop trying to justify actions which were uncalled for.

  • What you don’t seem to understand is that at a police scene, the police rule, period… Like it or not, that’s the law… If you interfere and don’t listen to an order, it’s considered obstructing justice…

And, like I saw before, the guy got pushed…a little too hard, maybe, but that’s all… It wasn’t a "Rodney King" thing… And, the reason you wouldn’t see a Tea Party person in that situation, it’s bc they’re not rabid like the million left wing photographers who were tripping over one another to make the police look bad… Sounds a little like what the democrats and Obama election team do…

  • The police rule are they here to serve and protect ? Also you do not push anyone unless you want to be in a fight , this is all shamefull brown nose tough guys , I like our republic, how dare any one say he did not push that person hard , you do not put your hands on anyone ….What an attitude , this is why our country is going down the crapper ..

  • Allegations of police corruption or use of excessive force hurts everyone – especially the police — in terms of lost cooperation, support and trust – which, in turn, diminishes their effectiveness.
