PC POLICE: Scotland Yard Bans “Blacklist” Over Racial Concerns
(FOXNEWS) Scotland Yard has directed its staff to no longer use the words “blacklist” and “whitelist” over fears the words are racist. The British law enforcement agency told officers the words were no longer “appropriate.”
“I am sure we can appreciate the sensitivity around the use of such terminology today so please ensure it is no longer used,” Security Services Chief Brian Douglas wrote in an email obtained by The Sun.
In place of the two terms, Scotland Yard suggested using “greenlist” and “redlist.”
However, Scotland Yard said it does not reflect an official change in policy.
“It is a change in internal information communications technology terminology which reflects a more appropriate use of language,” the agency said in a statement to the newspaper.
