Ore. bill will force parents to be ‘educated on vaccines’ before exempting kids
(EXAMINER) Oregon lawmakers are attempting to pass legislation requiring parents to be “educated” before allowing them to exempt their children from school vaccinations.
Currently, Oregon law requires all children in public and private schools to be immunized, but parents can choose exemption for medical or religious reasons. Oregon now leads the nation with 6.4 percent of kindergartners not receiving vaccinations, a number that doubled from 10 years ago.
Senate Bill 132 would require a doctor’s signature or a certificate proving that parents were properly educated by a health-care worker or a government approved pro-vaccination video, before being allowed to make a decision about their children and vaccines.
Groups such as the Oregon Pediatrics Society (OPS), who say unvaccinated children in Oregon are reaching a “dangerous level,” have put their support behind the new legislation.
“Often parents seek information online about vaccines; information that is often inaccurate and incomplete. This legislation will ensure parents receive credible, medically-based information about immunizations and vaccine-preventable diseases,” said the OPS.
On the other hand, parents who choose not to vaccinate point to dozens of independent studies and mainstream news showing vaccinations to be not as safe or effective as the government claims. In fact, a 2010 Rasmussen poll found that 52 percent of American adults are concerned about the safety of vaccinations for children, including 27 percent who say they are “very concerned.”
Some only need to look at the vaccine ingredient list found on the Center for Disease Control website, which includes Formaldehyde and Aluminum, to decide not to vaccinate. Others point to the fact that children now receive as many as 26 vaccination by two years of age as compared to the 1960s number of only four vaccinations. Vaccine company corruption is becoming more and more of a factor as well, although it likely won’t be shown on any government approved educational video.
In 2010, two scientists who worked for the vaccine manufacturing giant Merk, filed a False Claims Act complaint saying Merck knowingly falsified mumps vaccine test data by spiking blood samples with animal antibodies. It was also reported that Merck sold vaccines that actually increased mumps and measles outbreaks, all while falsely claiming them to be 95% effective.
After conducting a large investigation, Former Chair of the Council of Europe’s Sub-committee on Health Wolfgang Wodarg said the swine flu outbreak of 2009 was literally a manufactured hoax by pharmaceutical companies and the World Health Organization to make massive profits.
After submitting several Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, Dr. Lucija Tomljenovic successfully obtained multiple transcripts of private meetings held between the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI) and British health ministers from over the years. A report soon followed which found that the JCVI made multiple attempts to have critical data on severe adverse vaccination reactions withheld from the public in order to keep vaccination rates up. Despite the bombshell information, the media all but completely ignored the findings.
Along with corporate and government corruption, studies continue to find health problems associated with vaccinations. A recent study in Sweden found a direct link between the swine flu vaccine Pandemrix and narcolepsy. For those 21 and under, the risk of contracting narcolepsy was 300 percent higher after receiving the vaccine. According to head physician of the Finnish Medicines Agendy, Kari Lankinen, doctors intentionally hid the connection between the vaccination and narcolepsy to advance their careers.
In 2009, British health officials warned doctors secretly about the link between the H1N1 vaccine and Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), a debilitating nerve disease.
A medical team in Poland was charged after their H5N1 experiments on a group of homeless killed 21 people in 2008.
Doctors were advised in 2010 to not use certain flu vaccines on children under five years of age after it was linked with a tenfold increase in convulsive fits, caused by high fever.
A study released last year, published in Human and Experimental Toxicology, a peer-reviewed journal indexed by the National Library of Medicine, studied over 38,000 reports of infant hospitalizations and deaths following vaccinations. The study found significant links between the number of vaccine doses given to infants and hospitalization and mortality rates.
Others support some educational information prior to opting out of vaccinations but worry about biased stats. Information aside, many feel the government is slowly chipping away at a parents right to decide what is best for their child. Many parents in California were outraged after school officials began going door to door trying to vaccinate children on their doorstep.
Last April, eight Oregon children were vaccinated against their parent’s will after the state took custody of the children for undisclosed reasons, adding more fuel to the vaccine debate.
The Oregon Senate is set to vote on S.B. 132 this Wednesday.
