Oil Spill Cleanup Worker Accused In Texas Slaying

(WDSU)   PASCAGOULA, Miss. — Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd said Texas authorities have picked up an oil spill cleanup worker wanted in a local slaying.Byrd said Lorenzo Sam was arrested Monday night on a barge south of Petit Bois Island. Byrd said Sam was picked up by Ford Bend County, Texas, deputies on Tuesday.Fort Bend sheriff’s department spokeswoman Terriann Carlson said Sam is accused in the July 7 shooting death of Leesa Nascimento, a flower shop owner in Sugar Land, Texas.Officials with BP LLC and the cleanup subcontractor, Off Shore Staffing Services of Acadiana, who hired Sam in Lafayette, La., said they cooperated with authorities.
