Man Charged With Terrorism For Criticizing School Security

(MR. CONSERVATIVE)   History has shown us that one of the most dangerous things an individual can have in a totalitarian state is an opinion. In Hitler’s German, Mao’s China, or Stalin’s Soviet Union, it was always the same – have an opinion, go to jail.

What’s completely discouraging is that America is starting to be the same kind of state. People who are using their First Amendment free speech rights to raise important issues are increasingly finding themselves carted off to jail, or running the risk that their children will be wrenched from their arms and placed into the state system. A New Jersey mother discovered that when she was arrested after reading the Constitution at a public meeting; and a New Jersey father discovered it when he was interrogated and police threatened to remove his children after he posted a picture of his glowingly proud son with a hunting rifle. As too many people are discovering, speech in America is free only if you carry your “Progressive” card.

Now, a disabled grandfather in Centerville, Iowa has made the same terrible discovery — in today’s American, if you have an opinion, you can go to jail. Brian Davis is currently languishing in Appanoose County Jail, charged with felony threat of terrorism. Did he call a school and threaten to blow it up? No. Was he caught with bomb-making equipment in his garage? No. Did he call various American universities and try to have a “blow-out” reunion of all the former 1960s Leftist terrorists (some of whom participated in murder) who are now faculty members teaching our children? No.

What Brian Davis did do was tell his physical therapist that he was worried that his granddaughter’s school wasn’t properly secured against gunmen. Davis told WHOtv.13 in Des Moines that “he was making small talk with his physical therapist, complaining about what he considers to be lax security at his granddaughter’s school, when the therapist claimed Davis made a threatening comment about going into the school and opening fire.”

According to Davis, he was posing an obvious hypothetical about the school’s equally obvious vulnerabilities. “I never said that I would go in there and do something to those kids. I said anybody, any one person could go in there. Anybody.”

Davis does not have a criminal record, nor does he own a gun. Nevertheless, “to protect the children” (the Leftist’s favorite cry when it comes to decreasing individual rights, opening borders to illegal immigrants, or raising taxes), Davis’s bond was set at $50,000 cash, an amount so high that this older, disabled, very frightened man, is still sitting in jail – just because he expressed an opinion.

This is a very dangerous precedent. It becomes impossible to address societal problems if people are too frightened to raise their concerns. It’s apparent from the video that Davis is not some sophisticated Ivy Leaguer, who was expressing a smooth opinion that had been previously vetted by his attorney. He was a concerned grandfather who made an important point as best he could.

    It’s going to get worse…

Scary. I don’t even want to live here anymore. But where does one go?

But the FBI gets away with the Boston Bombing, pins it on a 19 year old with no evidence, and many cheer it on. We are super glued.

  4. sean says:

rule #1: Do not speak with police. Ever. Even if you think you are reasonable, they will use everything against you. If he said nothing when the police came to his door, it would have been the word of the PT vs. his.

  5. Joe Blaze says:

I guess its official, the constitution has been broken. We’ve allowed this to happen. Our civil liberties has been thrown in the garbage.

  6. AD says:

I grow very weary of this country’s current state. I want the country I grew up in, back. This isn’t it. This is a stinking cesspool of liberal scum and I will not stand for it.

I am not scared to speak my mind, so get that cell ready.

THIS IS A DISGRACE. THE FIRST AMENDMENT IS MEANT TO PROTECT SPEECH ESPECIALLY CONTROVERSIAL SPEECH. IF WE TALKED ABOUT DAISIES ALL DAY WE WOULDNT NEED A BILL TO PROTECT THAT. WHAT ARE WE COMING TO? DISGUSTING.

  10. steve says:

WTF is wrong with the cops? AFTER the background check they ran on this guy, they still consider him a threat? After I secured a real good ACLU lawyer and sued the crap out the therapist & police department. I would label those as NAZI’s in trying to invoke fascism in local politics & government.

THIS GUY IS A THREAT? Just listen to him. They (Police aka Gestapo) have him so frightened, he’s libel to crap his pants.

So now, I guess, you can no longer verbalize your opinion or thoughts to anyone without worrying that you too may be labeled a terrorist.

Wow, I seriously need to get my family out of this country. Or move to the first state that suceeds from the union. I hate this country anymore. Our president is a crook, our senators and congress are just puppets, and our constitution might as well never have been written. Until we get obama and all of his lackys out of control of this union it will not get better.

  12. Torkel Halvorsen says:

Neer ever speak Your mind to the authority, police, Security guards, child social service, public serice men, judges, they interpret it always different than what is your intention, its like this all over the world, except in the usa of course, there you will be charged of terrorism.
I personally belive it has something to do with Your way of thinking.
its very very differnt from what we are use to here in Norway, its funny in a way)

I am so glad I live in Wyoming; where we still have personal liberties and don’t have to deal with this bullshit.
