(WTVQ) – Kentucky Representative Tim Couch filed a bill this week to make anonymous posting online illegal.

The bill would require anyone who contributes to a website to register their real name, address and e-mail address with that site.

Their full name would be used anytime a comment is posted.

If the bill becomes law, the website operator would have to pay if someone was allowed to post anonymously on their site. The fine would be five-hundred dollars for a first offense and one-thousand dollars for each offense after that.

Representative Couch says he filed the bill in hopes of cutting down on online bullying. He says that has especially been a problem in his Eastern Kentucky district.

Action News 36 asked people what they thought about the bill.

Some said they felt it was a violation of First Amendment rights. Others say it is a good tool toward eliminating online harassment.

Representative Couch says enforcing this bill if it became law would be a challenge.

  • The majority of this video is Cheyenne Mountain, aka NORAD. This is DUMB. If you want to talk underground bases do your research stop the blatant fear mongering. Conspiracy theory has its place this is not it. Bring the real… please!

  • Relax. No one here is fear mongering. It it what it is. People like you and I know these places exist. Cheyenne Mountain is not the only place that is deep underground. I posted the video so people who don’t know these facilities exist can at least see them.

  • ya these pics are well known, and have been around for years. And ya, you were fear mongering. The purpose of this facility is so that the military can have control of it’s resources if a nuclear strike occurs, not to protect the elite.

  • To Greg and Matt: It doesn’t matter if the pictures have been out for years. The objective is to get people familiar with this. Federal Jack is not interested on fear mongering or any other similar label you decide to use. Did you also believe the Bush administration ?

  • i wouldnt say fear mongering, but if you are going to tell the truth and it will set you free, the people should see the whole truth. eventually it needs to be dealt with to make some headway. no better time than now.

  • i know there is good intel on the real deal, i would like to see it. i do love this site though.

  • Thanks for the post waker. We’ll try to get more detailed information on this soon. Please let us know if you’ll like to contribute.
