Justice department steps up enforcement against pro-life protestors
By contrast, abortion clinic safety inspections often non-existent
(Jack Minor) Under Obama’s administration the Justice department has begun more aggressively enforcing laws against sidewalk counselors at abortion clinics.
Following several abortion-related bombings, the government passed the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances act which limited the rights of protestors outside of abortion clinics.
The Associated Press reported that, under Obama, at least six pro-life supporters have been charged under the law while there was only one person charged under President Bush. Among those charged were a woman from West Palm Beach who blocked a car from entering an abortion clinic, and a Texas man who threw his body across the door of a patient waiting area.
