Governor Schwarzenegger plans to completely eliminate welfare for families in California

(LA TIMES)   Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is proposing to completely eliminate the state’s welfare program for families, medical insurance for low-income children and Cal Grants cash assistance to college and university students.

The proposals to sharply scale back the assistance that California provides to its neediest  residents came in testimony by the administration this afternoon at a joint legislative budget committee hearing. It followed comments by the governor earlier today that he would be withdrawing a proposal to help balance the budget with billions of dollars of borrowing and replacing it with program reductions.

The proposals would completely reshape the state’s social service network, transforming California from one of the country’s most generous states to one of the most tightfisted. The proposals are intended to help close a budget deficit estimated at $21.3 billion.

  • Gee ya think that might increase crime dramatically and give them a reason to have the cops crack down on everyone hmmmm? This is what socialism gets you and it wont be long and the whole country will follow in Cal foot steps.

  • Gee…I’d personally like to thank all of those A-HOLES that voted OTRAUMA into office. Thanks for F’N this nation! You people should be PROUD of yourselves. Ha…you fools didn’t quite understand what he meant when he said…”CHANGE”…did you? Get ready for YOUR C..H..A..N..G..E!
It’s amazing really…sometimes you see a person driving down the road…and you say to yourself…”that person should not have been given a drivers license.” Well…ALL of those people that voted for that FALSE PROPHET should NOT HAVE BEEN GIVEN A VOTE! (Would McCain have been any better?…possibly not!)

  • I guess some people do not have an understanding of the word CHANGE and the slightest inclination of the apparently transparent fact that our president is one man.Just like everyone else who put Obama on the pedalstool and all the haters that are saying look what he did you need to shove it.First of all, Obama is not God. Second, it is unrealistic for people to believe Obama can fix over a decade of screw-ups and ‘dirty little secrets’ in a few months nonetheless a year. Get a reality check! Third for people that want take the macho/a seat and think they can handle this and do better just remember when you fall down the toilet and are covered in S$%%, remember no one will help you. You have to face your own demons urself.
As far as this proposal goes I think it is crocky! I went to and graduated college and if I didnt have help like grants then there would ne no way I could afford that. I gree with the guy who said crimes would be higher and I also believe that more people would be stressed, depressed, suicidal and toxic from what they are being dished out from our society. My ancestors did not break their backs slaving for this country to dream of their generations to come being slaughtered like some cattle all in the sake of false justice. Then again they were treated less than cattle and saw their loved ones slaughtered like catlle too, lol.Ironic. Or is it more so that they slaughterer finds themselves on the slaughter block. So the irony is history repeats itself and we will undoubtily face the wraths of many more wraths to come.
What this is teaching us is that America cannot balance her check books nor keep her finances straight. We just need to sit and be taught how to take care of our finances and a thing called borrowing. I cannot paraphrase a better source than the bible which states that if you borrow pay it back with interest, and if you give make sure you want to give with the intentions on giving. With that said we need help managing money.
Taking away from our educational system that is already screwed and not half as good as Cubas is a slap in the face. Then taking welfare programs and throwing them in the dumps is saying we don’t need tomorrows leaders. I find irony n sattire in the picture depicted of Arnold with his hummer and the American Flag behind him. It depicts the state of California and the nation as a whole. We are now merely about show. We are not doers anymore so why should a nation nonetheless countries follow us when our principles and morals do not follow.
