Deputy Now Charged With 14 Child Sex Assault Felonies
( ABC) DENVER — A Denver deputy sheriff has been formally charged with 14 felonies accusing him of sexually assaulting two boys, according to court records.
Deputy Mark Edwin Davis, 48, who was arrested Sunday at his home in Denver’s Montbello neighborhood, remained in Jefferson County jail on $800,000 bond Friday, authorities said. Davis, who was placed on leave from his guard job in the Denver jail, is being housed outside Denver for his safety.
The 14-year veteran deputy was formally charged Friday with two felonies, sexual assault on a child and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, Denver district attorney spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough said.
The charges allege that between June 1 and Sept. 27 Davis sexually assaulted an 8-year-old boy, Kimbrough said.
In a separate case, Davis was charged Thursday with 12 felonies accusing him of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy in the man’s home between August 2002 and June 2006, Kimbrough said.
One boy lived in the Montbello neighborhood and the other was a family friend of Davis, Kimbrough said.
Davis is scheduled to be in Denver court Tuesday to receive his second advisement of the charges against him.
