Introducing NEALS by YTCracker (@ytcracker) – Official Music Video

the year is 2015.

the booming, neon-spackled metropolis of san secuestro continues to be the epicenter of the world’s greatest technological advancements. home to the largest hardware and software giants alike, the politicians of capitol city look to san secuestro as the cradle of the country’s future, as rich in ideas as it is in wealth.

the politicians could do without the festering underbelly of san secuestro, however – a network of meddling hackers constantly disrupting the government’s efforts to surveil and control the massive data pipes flowing from the city out to the rest of the globe.

this is the tale of one of many such hackers, imprisoned by the Syndicate for raging against the machine in the name of online privacy and net neutrality.

The FED: Celebrating 100 Years of Stealing From You Every Day

(Miss American for FederalJack)   So the gun grab finally has your attention?  I thought we were going to have to wait for the ground to be smoking under your shoeless feet before you woke up and looked around you!  I’m sorry, but the people who have been observing the take down of our country for many years now, don’t have time to bring you up to snuff at this point.  Basically it’s Paul Revere time for us.  There have been so many assaults committed by stealth against Americans of good faith, and carried out so slowly and incrementally, that you have actually been ambushed.  Now I’d advise that you prepare for the sucker punch.   Yes, we were the richest and most prosperous nation on earth.  Yes, a majority of us lived a lifestyle unprecedented in human history, but does the farmer not fatten up his pigs for the slaughter??  We have been a naive and trusting population.  But it’s time to face the ‘opposite day’ world we now find ourselves in.

Unfortunately, people who had a keen understanding of human nature designed a Madison Avenue society that kept the masses well preoccupied with ‘if you work hard enough, you can achieve the American Dream’, while they did their dirty work.  And we were preoccupied, mesmerized by a televised induced spell in fact!  But all the while, the same group we threw off our backs in the American Revolution, never gave up their rabid desire to control our country.  They merely decided to use deception, subversion and the age old power of greed and fear to conquer us this time.  We, along with 99% of the rest of the world have fallen into the hands of an international mafia banking cartel.   They have lusted for world domination for centuries, and have killed millions upon millions of people in their quest.

However, in spite of warnings throughout recorded history, and even from our country’s own founding fathers, in 1913 President Woodrow Wilson committed what was destined to become the gravest act of treason ever, when he signed into law the Federal Reserve Act.  With that signing, he essentially burnt down the country, and eventually the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence went down in flames with it.  Jesus Christ threw the moneychangers out of the temple, as did many after him, but Wilson opened the door wide and welcomed them back in.   What has ensued ever since, is the wholesale theft of everything America was, and all that Americans cherish and love.

With the ability to print money from nothing, and control it’s ebb and flow, the criminal Federal Reserve Mafia and Israeli dual citizens in high places of U.S. government, have been able to infiltrate and control every facet of our federal, state and local government, our military industrial complex, every educational, medical and research institution, every meaningful business possible including energy, all news media, publishing, agriculture, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.   They control all manner of entertainment including sports, Hollywood, gambling, illegal drugs, and pornography.  These parasites upon humanity have also cast their dark shadow over us with:

  • Nuclear power plants built on the earth’s fault lines and permitted far past their pre-planned life.
  • Radiation from bomb testing.
  • Military waste in corroding drums from bomb making tossed into oceans.
  • Depleted uranium used in war weapons and unleashed on our own soldiers.
  • Industrial waste illegally dumped in streams, rivers, bays and oceans.
  • The sexualization of our children.
  • DNA corrupting genetically modified crops and animals.
  • MRSA infested meats used for food and 99% uninspected food imports.
  • Radiation filled fish from Japan is just fine for US consumers thanks to Hillery Clinton.
  • Known poisons added to thousands of foodstuffs and municipal water supplies.
  • Human trafficking and sex slave operations.
  • Illegal organ harvesting.
  • Pedophile procurement rings.
  • Snuff films, violent movies and video games.
  • Gov. lab created bio-warfare germs accidentally and purposefully released on an unsuspecting public.
  • Deadly, crippling, and ineffective vaccines, never tested for eventual cancer or disease causation.
  • Disabling and violence inducing brain drugs prescribed to millions of children.
  • Deadly pharmaceutical drugs ‘fast tracked’, then allowed to remain on the market as people drop
  • dead by the thousands.
  • Daily spraying of heavy metals into the sky by the military and private entities.
  • Control of 90% of the mainstream media which demonizes anyone who exposes truth or logic.
  • Unsafe government ‘limits’ of microwave and radio frequency radiation from wireless technologies.

These sub-humans have even created fake environmental groups to convince us that humanity is a scourge on the earth, or that a blind salamander has more importance than people.  They even pay these groups to sue the government or ‘federal agencies’ to enable their hidden agendas such as land grabs or oil monopolies.  It’s called controlled opposition and they are experts at working both sides on any issue.   Funny how these same environmentalists (called ‘tree huggers’ by their handlers) are mum on the actual atrocities being committed against mother earth!

Our country, which once had morals, values, pride, love, the rule of law, and faith in our future, has disintegrated in front of our eyes.  Many are too blinded to see, so stuck in front of the TV they are with its false propaganda, lies and assurances that everything is just fine (and pay no mind to those enemy combatants, the conspiracy theorists!).  The television has absolutely been the downfall of our society, a powerful and hypnotizing mass control tool of the devils.  Research the flicker rate of high definition TV and its effect on the brain.  Have you ever wondered why everyone had to transition to HDTV?

These are the people running the American show now.  Our ‘Republic’ has been stolen by stealth.  By bribe or threat they now create our legislation.  They’ve turned all our federal agencies into draconian rogue forces that terrorize and swat team us without explanation or charges.  They are controlling what we can and can’t eat, and want to take vitamins and natural health treatments away from us.  We can’t drink organic milk, but they want to force us to roll up our sleeves so they can inject their idea of good health into our veins.  The CIA is their assassination and terrorist recruiting arm, and the IRS will now police health care.  The CPS, APS, and the courts abduct children and the elderly for incentive federal money and theft of estates.  They are forcing school children into mental evaluations so that they can force drugs on them.  They are doing the same to our veterans (of their wars) to take away their right to own arms, because if you went to guard Afghani poppy fields, surely you have PTSD!   Maybe you have taken notice how our former ‘protect and serve’ police forces have turned brutal, impulsive, and merciless!   Many have been trained in Israeli policing methods.  They have long ago re-written the history books so citizens won’t learn American history, or understand world history.  In many countries you cannot talk or write about what really happened concerning Hitler’s so-called death camps in Germany during WW2, or you will be guilty of ‘hate speech’ and go to jail.  Americans will be next.  To find out who controls you, ask who you cannot criticize.

These Moneychangers have created the financial take down of the world in order to bring in their New World Order with a total technocratic control grid in which every facet of life will be under their boot.  It’s full blown Communism along with unaccountable rendition and extermination of any resisters.  Yet even to this day, most people have no idea who ‘they’ are, so presidents, congressional minions, and police will be left holding the blame bag.  And they are to blame!  Anyone who lived to see JFK killed knew what was involved if they went down the road of American politics.  They are vetted well before a serious run for office to make sure they will be loyal to our best enemy Israel and the Rothschild, Morgan, Goldman Sachs banking cartel.  If they aren’t, they will be gone, one way or the other.  At the very least they will be vilified and forever trashed by the totally controlled TV, print or internet media.  This also happens to honest scientists, doctors, or any credible or well known public figure who speaks the truth, or threatens to expose their crimes or agenda.   This is why you do not see smart, ethical, intelligent, sensible, logical, red-blooded Americans seeking high office in our country.  JFK was the last of them.

Yes, I realize there have always been despots, ruthless dictators, and psychopaths on this earth with us, and narcissistic men filled with hubris who want to murder millions so they can run the world.  But the Zionists, and their endless myriad of paid off minions have a particularly heartless, barbaric and sadistic signature.   Read history books on how they have treated ‘the Goyim’ (anyone not a Jew) through the centuries.  They deeply believe the ‘goy’ are merely put on earth to serve them.  In fact they have killed their own if it was in the interest of their plan.  When you encounter them, you can almost feel your blood run cold.  You can sense their lack of a soul.  You can feel the presence of the devil.  They thrive on blood, guts, torture, and destruction.   It just takes a short look at how they slaughter their cattle to convince you this is true.  And who invented circumcision, the butchering of God’s creation?  Their modus operandi is to destroy families, morally bankrupt societies, introduce multi-culturalism (everywhere but in Israel) to dilute nationalism, create distention to divide groups, glorify deviance, demonize cultures and religions, and shove their beliefs down our throats.  At this point, it looks as if it has worked quite well.  America has bought into the plan, hook, line and sinker and it appears that we’ve passed the point of no return.  There is no white horse on the horizon.  We have but one savior left.  Witness the big push for people to accept and welcome gay lifestyles, and the soon to be pedophilia normalcy bias.  And just so you know, they will do anything it takes to accomplish what they think is their God given right to achieve.  Open hypocrisy, lies, subversion, slow kill, murder, and murder disguised as suicides or accidents are their calling card.  The list of extinguished souls is endless.

Personally I have never had prejudice against anyone’s race, religion, or color.  When I grew up we were not allowed to use racial slurs in our home.  I never knew anything negative about Jewish history until I began to search for who was doing this to us and why.   Why were our leaders turning on us?  Why is  everything they do the wrong thing for America, or morally wrong toward people?  Why have they turned us into the enemy?  Why was patriotism turned into terrorism?  Why do they despise and have contempt for us?  I got tired of hearing about ‘globalists, the New World Order, and the Illuminati’!  I wanted to know WHO it is that thought up all these brutal things being done to our country and our people.  Could there be that many people with such devious diabolical minds?  I’m a registered independent, but I voted for President Obama (alias Barry Sotoro), so desperate I was for ‘change’ and some ‘hope’ that our country would not continue to head for the dirt nap.  (Never mind that voting for the traitor Mr. McCain wasn’t even on my radar).   Is there anyone who voted for this imposter that doesn’t feel like a real sucker and a totally betrayed fool??  I see now that the controllers are moving in for the kill, dropping their masks, and taunting us to protest or resist.  They will not stop until they have stolen every last vestige of the life we had.  They don’t care if we know what they’re doing.  They are laughing at us.  To be this obvious and this much in our face is not a good omen.  They have been amazingly genius at keeping everyone in the dark until the big boot was all polished and ready to stomp, using printed trillions out of thin air to enslave us.  They must be ready to pull the plug.   Imagine, all the wars having been fought to guarantee them the right to counterfeit money to infinity. All wars are banker wars!  How could we not have questioned and thrown out, the counterfeiting Ponzi scheme that is the banking system?

Oh….. don’t forget to observe The Federal Reserve’s Centennial Birthday: ‘Celebrating 100 years of stealing from you every day’!  Why did we ignore the warning signs?  Why didn’t we learn from the brutal murderous trail the moneychangers had already laid?  By not learning from history, we are now doomed to repeat horrific episodes of the past.

Caution Urged for Mutant H5N1 Avian Flu Work

(NY TIMES)   Virus surveillance systems are ill-equipped to detect mutations arising in flu viruses. So, work on the viruses is unlikely to offer significant, immediate public-health benefits, some say.

Why would scientists deliberately create a form of the H5N1 avian influenza virus that is probably highly transmissible in humans? In the growing debate about research that has done precisely that, a key question is whether the public-health benefits of the work outweigh the risks of a potential pandemic if the virus escaped from the lab.

For the scientists who have created the mutated strains of the H5N1 virus, the justifications are clear. Surveillance of flu viruses could, they argue, allow health organizations to monitor birds and other animals for the mutations that would provide an early warning of a pandemic and enable authorities to act quickly to contain the virus.

That claim is meeting with skepticism, however. More than a dozen flu experts contacted by Nature say they believe that the work opens up important vistas in basic research, and that it sends a valuable warning about the potential for the virus to spark a human pandemic. But they caution that virus surveillance systems are ill-equipped to detect such mutations arising in flu viruses. As such, work on the viruses is unlikely to offer significant, immediate public-health benefits, they say.

That tips the balance of risk-benefit assessment in favor of a cautious approach, says Michael Osterholm, who heads the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy in Minneapolis, and who is a member of the US National Science Advisory Board for Bio-security (NSABB).

In a paper submitted to Science, Ron Fouchier’s team at Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, found that just five mutations allowed avian H5N1 to spread easily among ferrets, which are a good proxy for how flu behaves in other mammals, including humans. All five mutations have been spotted individually–although not together–in wild viruses. Yoshihiro Kawaoka of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his colleagues have submitted similar work to Nature, which is partially described in an online Comment published this week.

Acting on advice from the NSABB, the U.S. government last month asked Science and Nature to publish only the broad conclusions of the two studies, and not to reveal the scientific details, in order to limit the risk that uncontrolled proliferation of such research might lead to accidental or intentional release of similar mutant viruses. The journals and the authors have agreed to this redaction, provided that a mechanism is established to disseminate the data to flu researchers and public-health officials on a need-to-know basis. The US government, the World Health Organization (WHO) and other bodies are now trying to put this mechanism together, along with a framework for international oversight of such research.

Last week, in a statement jointly published in Nature and Science, 39 flu researchers declared a 60-day pause in the creation of lab mutant strains of the H5N1 avian flu virus. The hiatus, they hope, should give scientists and policy-makers time to debate how such research might best proceed, and what safety measures should be required of labs that handle the virus. The signatories to the statement, including the key authors behind the controversial research, plan to bring together some 50 experts at a WHO-hosted meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, next month to discuss these thorny issues.

Scientists contacted by Nature say that basic research on such mutated strains may eventually yield insight relevant to developing pandemic countermeasures such as drugs and vaccines. And they all agree that the new research has done the world a service by showing that H5N1 seems capable of evolving the ability to spread rapidly among humans, in contrast to what some scientists have claimed.

Fouchier’s study “raises a red flag”, says Ilaria Capua, an animal-flu expert at the Experimental Animal Health Care Institute of Venice in Legnaro, Italy. “That is the real, and most important message, of this whole exercise.” It should prompt donors and international organizations to ramp up their funding of efforts to control outbreaks of the H5N1 virus in poultry, and so give the virus fewer opportunities to evolve into a human pathogen, she says. Other scientists add that it should force governments to rethink existing vaccine technologies, which are only capable of supplying vaccine six months after a pandemic starts, and of producing enough vaccine for a small fraction of the world population.

Patchy surveillance

But the notion that the research offers a guide to dangerous variants that could be stamped out before they spread is unrealistic, say Osterholm and other researchers. “In order to even consider the possibility of reducing the animal reservoir of an emerging pandemic virus, one would need rapid and complete detection of virus in all geographical areas,” Osterholm says. Yet surveillance of H5N1 in poultry worldwide is patchy, particularly in poorer countries, where the virus is prevalent. It is also largely geared towards simply detecting and monitoring outbreaks, and few of the viral samples collected are ever sequenced.

Last year, global surveillance resulted in partial sequences from just 160 H5N1 isolates being submitted to GenBank, the main repository of such data (see “Sequence shortfall”). And virus isolates are often sequenced months or years after they are collected–hardly the swift turnaround of a pandemic alert system. “Could we pick up a mutation in real time and stop a pandemic?” asks Capua. “Not with the surveillance we have now.”

Moreover, if H5N1 surveillance in poultry is poor, the situation is far worse in pigs, where there is almost no systematic surveillance, even in richer countries. H5N1 infections in pigs are uncommon and cause only mild illness, creating little economic incentive to monitor them. GenBank contains partial sequences from just 24 pig H5N1 isolates. Yet pigs are a likely source of a human pandemic H5N1 virus because they are susceptible to both human and avian viruses, creating opportunities for genetic re-assortment in co-infected animals.

Fouchier argues that many countries collect more, and more timely, sequence data than those deposited in GenBank. “That some outbreak countries are not yet fully capable of making optimal use of such data should not lead to the fatalistic conclusion not to generate and share the data as they emerge,” he says. “Warnings weeks after dangerous viruses have emerged in poultry, or mammals, may be better than no warnings at all.”

But even if a candidate pandemic H5N1 virus was detected in poultry, culling flocks to eliminate it would be no mean feat. H5N1 has become endemic in many countries, including China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India and Egypt, and the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that, with current resources, it would take at least a decade to stamp out the virus in such countries.

The relative ease of making H5N1 transmissible between mammals in the lab should now prompt the world to address these glaring inadequacies in surveillance, says Jeremy Farrar, director of the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Molecular technologies need to be made more easily available and affordable to countries at risk, and genetic surveillance more comprehensive and timely. But building such systems would require sustained political will, financial resources, and overcoming major logistical hurdles in the field.

Other mutations

Even if such a revolution occurred, looking only for the mutations reported by Fouchier and Kawaoka would be short-sighted, says Marc Lipsitch, an epidemiologist at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts. “There are many, many, other ways that the virus could become transmissible,” he says. “It would be very unfortunate if people say that if we don’t see these mutations, we don’t need to worry,” he adds. Moreover, says Farrar, H5N1 is far from being the only flu virus that poses a pandemic threat. But he believes that more extensive genetic surveillance could eventually pay off. “The research points us to where we need to go, rather than where we are today,” he says. “Before this research, we were all guessing what changes might be needed. This work pushes that forward.”

Asked whether there were any areas in which the mutant flu research could provide immediate public-health benefits, Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, replies: “I would say that, in a perfect world, the immediate benefit would be in surveillance. But from a logistics standpoint, in the world we live in, that will be difficult to do.”

Because the value of these studies is more likely to emerge in the longer term, it makes sense to take time to consider how such research can proceed safely, he says. “What’s the rush?” he asks. “I am very much in favor of having a pause in the research.”

Shot 60 Times!? Arizona SWAT Team Kills Marine In Botched Marijuana Raid

On May 5 at around 9:30 a.m., several teams of Pima County, Ariz., police officers from at least four different police agencies armed with SWAT gear and an armored personnel carrier raided at least four homes as part of what at the time was described as an investigation into alleged marijuana trafficking. One of those homes belonged to 26-year-old Jose Guerena and his wife, Vanessa Guerena. The couple’s 4-year-old son was also in the house at the time. Their 6-year-old son was at school.

As the SWAT team forced its way into his home, Guerena, a former Marine who served two tours of duty in Iraq, armed himself with his AR-15 rifle and told his wife and son to hide in a closet. As the officers entered, Guerena confronted them from the far end of a long, dark hallway. The police opened fire, releasing more than 70 rounds in about 7 seconds, at least 60 of which struck Guerena. He was pronounced dead a little over an hour later.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department initially claimed (PDF) Guerena fired his weapon at the SWAT team. They now acknowledge that not only did he not fire, the safety on his gun was still activated when he was killed. Guerena had no prior criminal record, and the police found nothing illegal in his home. After ushering out his wife and son, the police refused to allow paramedics to access Guerena for more than hour, leaving the young father to bleed to death, alone, in his own home.

I can now report a number of new details that further call into question the police account of what happened that morning. But first some context:

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office has now changed its story several times over the last few weeks. They have issued a press release (PDF) scolding the media and critics for questioning the legality of the raid, the department’s account of what happened, and the department’s ability to fairly investigate its own officers. They have obtained a court order sealing the search warrants and police affidavits that led to the raids, and they’re now refusing any further comment on the case at all. When I contacted Public Information Officer Jason Ogan with some questions, he replied via email that the department won’t be releasing any more information. On Saturday, Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik told Arizona Daily Star columnist Josh Brodesky that he may never release the search warrants and police affidavits. Dupnik rose to national prominence earlier this year after claiming combative political rhetoric contributed to Jared Loughner killing six people and wounding 19 others, including Rep. Gabielle Giffords, last January.

The department’s excuses for keeping all of this information under wraps make little sense. In his May 18 press release (PDF), for example, Ogan wrote, “The investigation that lead to the service of the search warrants on May 5 is a complicated one involving multiple people suspected of very serious crimes. Sometimes, law enforcement agencies must choose between the desire of the public to quickly know details, and the very real threat to innocent lives if those details are released prematurely.” Dupnik used the same line of reasoning with Brodesky. “Those are the real sensitive parts of why we are having difficulty with trying to put information out publicly–because we don’t want somebody getting killed,” Dupnik said.

The problem with that explanation is that the search warrants and affidavits weren’t sealed until four days after the raids were executed, right at about the time the troubling questions about Jose Guerena’s death began to make national headlines. If revealing the details of this investigation — which remember, was initially described by the Sheriff’s Department as a marijuana investigation — could endanger lives, why weren’t the warrants and affidavits sealed from the start? It isn’t difficult to understand why some would suspect a cover-up, or at least an attempt to suppress details until the department can come up with a narrative that mitigates the damage. In any case, it’s awfully audacious for a police agency to scold the media for not trusting them and for “spreading misinformation” just days after revealing they themselves released bad information.

There are other reasons to doubt the excuse that releasing the search warrants would jeopardize public safety. The raids on the other homes carried out that same morning, all part of the same operation, resulted in no arrests and turned up little if any actual contraband. (When police find illegal substances after these raids — especially raids that end badly — they usually quickly release that information.)

Moreover, if this was all about breaking up a dangerous home invasion ring, where are the suspects, and where is the evidence? According to an advocate for the Guerena family I spoke with this week, the police also mistakenly raided another home near Guerena’s the same morning, and have since replaced that home’s front door. Again, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department is refusing comment, so I can’t verify this allegation with them. But police officials have admitted that even the Guerena warrant was only for his residence, not for Jose Guerena personally; his name doesn’t appear anywhere on the warrants. The police also concede they weren’t aware that there was a child in the home at the time of the raid. Given all of this, it seems reasonable to question just how thorough this investigation really was.

I’ve been reporting on the overuse of SWAT teams and military police tactics for about six years now. You begin to see patterns in how police agencies respond to high-profile incidents like this one. One near-universal tactic is to lock down information once the media begins to grow skeptical. Another, often undertaken simultaneously, is to unofficially leak information that’s beneficial to the police department. They’re doing both in Tucson.

Michael Storie, the attorney for the Arizona police union, is apparently handling the smear campaign portion of the strategy. Storie points out on the union’s website that under his watch, no union police officer “has ever been convicted on charges relating to on-duty conduct.” That may be a boastworthy claim when it comes to Storie’s lawyering prowess. But it isn’t exactly a testament to his trustworthiness. (Police critic William Grigg also points out that the boast isn’t entirely true — Storie represented a cop convicted of a sexual assault and kidnapping committed in 2005, despite Storie’s best efforts to blame the victims.)

On Friday, Storie told the Arizona Daily Star that Guerena was “linked” to a “home-invasion crew,” and that police found rifles, handguns, body armor, and a “portion of a law-enforcement uniform” in Guerena’s house. “Everything they think they’re going to find in there, they find,” Storie said. “Put it together, and when you have drug rip-offs that occasionally happen where people disguise themselves as law enforcement officers, it all adds up.”

I asked Chris Scileppi, the attorney representing Guerena’s family, about the “portion of a law enforcement uniform” allegation. “They’re trying to imply that he was dressing up as a police officer to force his way into private homes,” Scileppi says. But when police serve a search warrant they leave behind a receipt what they’ve taken from the residence. According to Scileppi, the only item taken from Gurena’s home that remotely fits that description was a U.S. Border Control cap — which you can buy from any number of retail outlets, including Amazon.com.

About the guns and body armor Scileppi says, “Is it really that difficult to believe that a former Marine living in Arizona would have guns and body armor in his home? Nothing they found in the house is illegal to own in Arizona.” In fact, Storie himself acknowledged in the Daily Star that had the SWAT team entered Guerena’s home peacefully, they wouldn’t have made an arrest.

And when you “put it together,” to borrow his own terminology, Storie’s comments thus far lead to a pretty astonishing conclusion: After violently breaking into Guerena’s home, the police found exactly the evidence they were looking for — yet none of that evidence merited an arrest. Storie is either shamelessly posturing, or he actually believes that the police are justified in violently forcing their way into a private home with their guns drawn, even if they have no expectation that they’ll find any evidence of a crime.

At his press conference last week, Storie also defended the SWAT team’s refusal to allow paramedics to access Guerena for more than hour. “They still don’t know how many shooters are inside, how many guns are inside and they still have to assume that they will be ambushed if they walk in this house,” Storie said.

This is absurd. The entire purpose of using SWAT teams, dynamic entry, and like paramilitary-style police tactics is to subdue dangerous suspects and secure the building within seconds. If it took more than an hour to secure the Guerenas’ small home, this particular SWAT team was incompetent. By contrast, paramedics were tending to the wounded after the Jared Loughner shootings within 12 minutes, and that was a far more volatile crime scene.

Storie has offered up a number of other questionable allegations and explanations in recent days.

Last week, for example, Storie told the Daily Star that the investigation leading up to the raids was from the start about home invasions and “drug rip-offs” — not just marijuana distribution, as the Sheriff’s Department initially indicated. Storie also says the police vehicles ran their lights and sirens until they were parked in the Guerenas’ driveway, and that a police officer knocked on the door and announced himself for a full 45 seconds before the SWAT team forced its way inside. He emphasized that the raid was “in no way” a “no-knock” operation.

Storie is laying groundwork for the argument that Guerena should have known that the men breaking into his home were police. That he still met them with his rifle meant he was intent on killing them, which of course would justify their rash of gunfire. For good measure, Storie added that just before they opened fire, several officers reported hearing Guerena say, “I’ve got something for you; I’ve gotten something for you guys.”

There are a number of problems here, beginning with the lights, the sirens, and the knocking. If these warrants were, as Storie claims, for suspected dangerous, well-armed members of a home invasion ring, why would they give a violent suspect such ample warning that they’re coming? Why wouldn’t the police have sought and obtained a no-knock warrant? This is precisely the scenario for which no-knock entry is warranted — to apprehend suspected dangerous people who may present an immediate threat to police and the public.

This week I also spoke with Ray Epps, a retired Marine sergeant from Mesa, Arizona and president of the Arizona chapter of Oath Keepers, the controversial organization of police and military personnel who have vowed not to enforce laws they believe are unconstitutional. After hearing about Guerena’s death, Epps drove to Tucson to investigate.

“We spoke with several of the neighbors,” Epps says. “And none of them — none of them — heard any sirens that morning. Every one of them told us they didn’t hear anything, no knocking, no shouting, until the shooting started. They didn’t hear anything until the shooting started.” Scileppi, who is conducting his own investigation, wouldn’t say if he had spoken to neighbors, but did say of the lights and sirens, “What we’ve found contradicts what they’re saying.” Epps added, “What I found disturbing is that none of the neighbors would give us their names. These people are terrified of the police, now. Another thing I found strange, they said the police didn’t evacuate them until after the shooting.”

If next-door neighbors didn’t hear the sirens or police announcement at the door, it’s plausible that Guerena, who was sleeping off the graveyard shift he’d worked the night before, didn’t hear them either. Of course, the other possibility here is that the police are lying about the sirens and the announcement.

To buy what Storie is pitching, you would have to believe that Guerena — the father of two young boys, who was working a night job to save money for a new home, who had no criminal record, who served two tours of duty in Iraq and was honorably discharged — knowingly took on a team of armored, well-armed police officers, himself armed only with his rifle, and with his wife and young child still in the home. You’d also have to believe that the battle-tested former Marine forgot to turn off his weapon’s safety before the shooting began.

The alternate explanation — and I think the more plausible one — is that Guerena thought the men breaking into his home were criminals, but held his fire until he was sure. (That’s also the mark of someone well-trained in gun safety, and a stark contrast to the SWAT team, which despite never receiving hostile fire, unleashed a barrage of bullets that penetrated not only Jose Guerena but, according to sources I spoke with, also the walls of neighboring homes.)

If you’re not actually a criminal and you wake up to the sound of armed men breaking into your home, your first thought isn’t likely to be that you’re being visited by the police. There may also have been something else on Guerena’s mind: Last year, two of Vanessa Guerena’s relatives were murdered by armed intruders. The intruders also shot the couple’s children. What Guerena is alleged to have said — “I’ve got something for you; I’ve gotten something for you guys” — sounds damning if you assume he knew the men in his home were police, but there’s nothing in that sentence indicating Guerena knew he was confronting cops. It also sounds like something a former soldier might shout out to intimidate armed intruders. And let’s not forget, the same team of SWAT officers who reported hearing Guerena say those words also reported seeing a muzzle flash from Guerena’s gun, which we now know couldn’t have happened.

Storie also says police found a photo of Jesus Malverde in Guerena’s home. Malverde is an iconic, probably mythical figure often described as the “narco saint”. But as my former Reason magazine colleague Tim Cavanaugh points out, while it’s true that Malverde has been embraced by drug traffickers, he is also revered by the poor, by immigrants, and by people who feel they’ve been wronged. “That Guerena had a picture of Jesus Malverde tells us two things,” Cavanaugh writes. “He had a family to worry about and he shared the belief of most Americans that a supernatural being or beings can influence earthly circumstances.”

When Daily Star columnist Josh Brodesky asked Sheriff Dupnik if Storie’s chats with the press about the details of the Guerena raid were hindering the investigation, Dupnik said, simply, “No.” So while Dupnik’s department is refusing to officially release any information about the raid or surrounding investigation due to “the real threat to innocent lives,” he has no problem with the police union lawyer disclosing details that smear Guerena to the benefit of Dupnik and his department.

Perhaps we will at some point see convincing evidence that Dupnik and Storie are right — that Jose Guerena was in fact a drug dealer and violent criminal who dressed up like a cop to rob rival drug dealers and innocent citizens of Pima County. But at this point, all we have is a dead father and veteran, a violent series of raids that make little sense, and a police agency that over the last three weeks has put out incorrect information, insisted that it would be dangerous to release any further information, and, at the same time, allowed a police representative to release information favorable to the department.

The government of Pima County has killed one of its own citizens. This is the most serious, solemn, and severe action a local government can undertake. It demands complete transparency. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and other agencies involved in the raid ought to be doing anything and everything to make themselves accountable. Instead, they’ve shown arrogance, defiance, and obstinacy — all wrapped in an appeal to public safety.
